Rwanda remains safe for travel, tourism, and business despite a recent outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease (MVD), according to the country’s health minister. The Ministry of Health has effectively contained the virus, and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has reassured that the situation is under control, following reports of a potential spread and a U.S. travel advisory.

In a statement issued Thursday evening, the RDB emphasized that the country acted swiftly and decisively upon identifying the first cases. They underscored that Rwanda remains open and safe for visitors and businesses alike. The RDB highlighted that while Marburg is a serious disease, it is not airborne. Transmission occurs only through direct contact with blood, bodily fluids, or contaminated surfaces of symptomatic individuals.
