Hikers must carry all their own food, sleeping equipment, and clothing. The trail showcases stunning canyon scenery, ancient rock formations, and opportunities to swim in refreshing river pools.

Due to its rugged environment and limited daily permits, only 30 hikers are allowed on the trail each day between May 1st and September 15th.

Slackpacking Options

For those who prefer a more comfortable experience, slackpacking tours are available, which include guided hikes with meals and accommodation at designated camps such as Camp Eternity and Camp Edge. These tours last 2 to 3 days and provide unique stone gabion shelters overlooking the canyon.
