During the 1990s TPS established in Tanzania and advanced the Serena Brand through Hotels and Lodges in Zanzibar and the Northern Circuit (Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro) and expanded to the Southern Circuit in 2009 with two lodges in the Selous Game Reserve. The company was registered in May 1989 under registration number 16653. The properties that Tourism Promotion Services Tanzania Ltd manages under Serena Hotels brand name are totalling 318 rooms and employing over 675 staff in Tanzania. The Zanzibar Serena Hotel which opened in 1998, is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World and employs over 130 staff.
