Mount Elgon National Park, Uganda

Mount Elgon is an ancient extinct volcano straddling the Uganda–Kenya border, boasting one of the largest calderas in the world. Its slopes rise through farmland and forest to Afro-alpine moorland, with Wagagai Peak reaching 4,321 metres. Highlights include the spectacular Sipi Falls, cave hikes, hot springs and diverse birdlife, all with far fewer crowds than other trekking destinations.
