Namib-Naukluft National Park — Entry Fees & Practical Info

The Namib-Naukluft National Park is one of the largest protected areas in Africa, embracing the ancient Namib Desert, the rugged Naukluft mountains and stretches of the Atlantic coast in western Namibia. It is most famous for Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, where towering star-shaped dunes, among the tallest in the world and glowing in shades of apricot and rust, rise dramatically above white clay pans studded with the skeletal remains of centuries-old camel-thorn trees. The park's landscapes range from these iconic dunes to gravel plains, dry riverbeds, granite outcrops and the deep Sesriem Canyon. Despite its extreme aridity, the desert supports remarkably adapted life, including oryx, springbok, ostrich, mountain zebra and specialised creatures such as the fog-basking beetle and the web-footed gecko. The Naukluft section offers spring-fed gorges and hiking trails, while the coastal reaches shelter seabirds and marine life. Renowned for its otherworldly scenery and extraordinary light, Namib-Naukluft is a paradise for photographers, hikers and desert enthusiasts.
