Nairobi National Park — Entry Fees & Practical Info

Nairobi National Park is the only national park in the world located within a capital city, lying just about 10 kilometres from the centre of Nairobi. Against a backdrop of city skyscrapers, open savanna plains, acacia woodland and seasonal rivers support an astonishing variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, elands and hippos. The park is a stronghold for endangered black rhinos, protected within a dedicated rhino sanctuary, and it hosts more than 400 recorded bird species, making it a superb destination for birdwatchers. Visitors can enjoy game drives on well-maintained tracks, guided nature walks at the Nairobi Safari Walk, and picnics at designated sites, all within a short drive of the city. The park is also home to the Ivory Burning Site Monument, a powerful symbol of Kenya's commitment to fighting the illegal wildlife trade. Its accessibility makes it an ideal introduction to an African safari for travellers arriving in or departing from Nairobi.
