Tsavo East National Park — Entry Fees & Practical Info

Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Kenya, forming part of the vast Tsavo Conservation Area, which together with Tsavo West protects a wilderness larger than many countries. Known for its endless horizons of semi-arid savanna, open plains and the meandering Galana River, Tsavo East is famous for its 'red elephants', so called because they coat themselves in the park's distinctive red volcanic dust. The landscape is dominated by the Yatta Plateau, one of the world's longest lava flows, and punctuated by Mudanda Rock, a natural water catchment that attracts wildlife. The park is home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hirola antelope and prolific birdlife, and its remote, uncrowded character offers a genuine sense of wild Africa. The historic Lugard Falls on the Galana River and the Aruba Dam are popular viewpoints. Visitors come for classic game drives, photography and the chance to experience one of East Africa's most expansive and untamed protected landscapes.
