Tsavo West National Park, Kenya

Tsavo West National Park is a strikingly beautiful and varied wilderness in southern Kenya, forming the western half of the greater Tsavo Conservation Area. More rugged and green than its eastern neighbour, Tsavo West features volcanic hills, lava flows, springs, rocky outcrops and rolling savanna, creating dramatic and diverse scenery. Its crown jewel is Mzima Springs, a series of crystal-clear pools fed by underground streams from the Chyulu Hills, where visitors can watch hippos and crocodiles through an underwater viewing chamber. The park is home to elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, rhinos and a rich variety of birdlife, and it includes the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, a vital stronghold for endangered black rhinos. Other highlights include the Shetani lava flows, Chaimu Crater, and sweeping views towards Mount Kilimanjaro. Popular activities include game drives, guided walks, birdwatching and photography, all set against some of the most photogenic landscapes in Kenya.
